SATURDAY 6 January 2018: Artistic Research

The first seminar of this year is entitled “Back and Forth: Dialectics of Gender and Policies” and is delivered by Ola Hassanain.

ABOUT:
Guest Speaker: Ola is an artist with degrees in architecture, cultural identity, and globalization. She studied Fine Art in Netherlands. Her artwork is informed by the cultural, political, and societal position of women in Khartoum, including her own experiences and her family’s diaspora.

Seminar: “Back and Forth (2016–ongoing) is an artistic research project that uses a recursive method that explores links between women, public space, and policies in Khartoum. This project attempts to rearticulate space in relation to gender, in order to open trajectories for ideas on developing work on culture-specific gender and spatial politics. How can one rearticulate space and gender to speak to context specificities?”

Participation: Everyone is welcome, there are no fees to attend seminar. However, please register using this online form.

This seminar is co-organised by the Sudanese Knowledge Society and the Sudanese Medical Heritage Foundation. It will be held from 4 to 6pm on Saturday 6th January 2018 at the Sudanese Medical Heritage Foundation Conference Room.
